Job loss plan paused

General union the GMB has praised airline caterer Baxter Storey after it paused consultations on 500 planned redundancies and opted to use the extended furlough scheme.

GMB Organiser Perry Phillips commented: “Credit must go to the company for recognising its highly skilled workforce - they have done everything they possibly can to keep staff employed through these dire times.

“By preserving its dedicated workers they will be ready and prepared for the return of passenger and freight flights.”

He called on other employers in the embattled aviation industry to use furlough to avoid redundancies.
