Rock industry fortunes

The fortunes of rock artist Eric Clapton and his manager Roger Forrester were closely entwined for almost 30 years until they split in early 1999. Accounts recently filed at Companies House show that Clapton earned £8.48 million in the year to September 1998, made up of £6.28 million pay and £2.2 million in dividends - a 588% rise on the 1997 figure of £1.23 million.

Forrester earned £2,879,996 in the same period - a 940% rise on his £276,996 earnings the previous year.
