Inflation rises to 3.4%

An increase in both furniture and computer games prices has pushed inflation higher. Under the Retail Prices Index (RPI) it rose to 3.4% in August, up from the 3.3% of the past two months.

The Consumer Prices Index (CPI), which excludes housing costs and is the government's preferred measure, rose to 2.5% in the year to August from 2.4% in July.
