Aerospace pensions

Aerospace company Goodrich has conceded a five-year guarantee that there will be no changes to its final salary pension scheme for existing members following a one-day strike and overtime ban. The Unite general union was disappointed that new staff will no longer be eligible to join, but national officers John Rowse and Bernie Hamilton described the guarantee as an industry first and “virtually unheard of”. An increase in contribution rates will be partly offset by two instalments of £250 over the same period. Goodrich employs 1,600 staff across the country.
