Pressure on to rid schools of asbestos

Unions and asbestos campaigners are stepping up the pressure for action on asbestos in schools.

Campaigners want the government to remove all asbestos-containing materials from schools.

Teaching unions NUT, NASUWT and ATL together with asbestos campaigner Michael Lees have met with government officials.

The government has conceded that proper training needs to be provided to all head teachers and school managers regarding their current responsibilities in this area.
