Two of Northern Ireland’s main teachers’ unions have established formal links to make them “a more powerful voice”. The Ulster Teachers’ Union (which organises in publicly controlled schools in Northern Ireland), and the Irish National Teachers Organisation (which represents teachers in the Catholic maintained sector across Ireland) have formed a board which will represent the majority of Northern Ireland teachers in the primary and post-primary sectors.
