Inflation now has plus sign

Dearer petrol and oil drove inflation into positive territory for the first time since last January. Under the Retail Prices Index (RPI), inflation was up by 0.3% in November — against a 0.8% fall the previous month, the Office for National Statistics said.

Under the government’s preferred measure, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), inflation rose to 1.9% in November from 1.5% the previous month.
