Inflation slows again

Inflation dipped slightly on the back of cheaper clothing and footwear and furniture. Under the Retail Prices Index (RPI), the rate of inflation was 4.8% in July, against 5.0% the previous month.

Under the goverment’s preferred measure — the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) — inflation was down to 3.1% against 3.2% in June.
