Labour leadership

Labour leadership contender Ed Miliband has received the support of four Labour-affiliated union leaderships, while his older brother David has won two.

The younger brother has the backing of general unions Unite and the GMB, public services UNISON and construction union UCATT. David has support from shopworkers’ union Usdaw and Community — the union for life.

Diane Abbott also has two union backers — transport unions TSSA and ASLEF — while Ed Balls is supported by the CWU communication workers’ union.
