Inflation lowest for two years

Inflation was at its lowest level for over two years, according to the latest official figures. Under the Retail Prices Index, inflation was down to 3.5% in April from 3.6% the previous month. RPI inflation was last higher in December 2009.

Under the Consumer Prices Index — the government’s preferred measure — inflation slowed to 3.0% from 3.5% in March.
