Inflation rises again

Inflation was on the rise for the second consecutive month, the latest official figures show. Under the Retail Prices Index (RPI), inflation was up to 3.3% in June from 3.1% the previous month.

Higher travel costs and dearer women’s clothing were the main contributors to the rise.

Under the government’s preferred measure — the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) — inflation was up to 2.9% in June from 2.7% in May.
