Inflation measures

Two “improved” measures of inflation that were introduced earlier last year by the Office for National Statistics have now been classified as National Statistics after a period of being “experimental” statistics.

The RPIJ is an improved variant of the Retail Prices Index that is calculated using formulae that meet international standards.

The CPIH is based on the Consumer Prices Index but includes owner-occupiers’ housing costs.
