Gender equality

The battle for equality is far from over for women workers, particularly those with children, according to interim results from “the biggest ever survey of women and work in the UK”.

More than 25,000 women workers have so far responded to Project 28-40 which is being carried out by the Business in the Community gender equality campaign Opportunity Now.

An analysis of the first 20,000 responses found that, among a range of issues affecting working women, more than one in five (82%) felt that having children will affect their career progression. In addition, 70% said that they felt conflicted over their ability to balance their career with their family responsibilities.

Full survey results and recommendations are due to be published in April.
