Inflation rises

Inflation rose in May on the back of higher transport costs, including air fares.

Under the Retail Prices Index (RPI), inflation rose by 1.0% against a 0.9% rise in both March and April.

Inflation under the government’s preferred measure — the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) — rebounded to a positive rate in May.

The CPI was 0.1%, against minus 0.1% the previous month.
