Liverpool public “trading company”

Unions representing Liverpool’s refuse workers have agreed a wholly-owned, arms-length Local Authority Trading Company (LATco) to replace the council’s joint venture with Enterprise Liverpool Limited and Amey in November.

The deal, which ended moves to procure the contract externally, will cut costs and boost recycling and is reported to involve earlier shift starts but no compulsory redundancies.
