Inflation on the up again

Inflation under the Retail Prices Index rose for the third consecutive month and the annual rate for January was 1.3%, against 1.2% the previous month. The main upward pressure came from motor fuels, offset by cheaper air fares.

Inflation under the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) — the government’s preferred measure — was at a 12-month high. The CPI rate was 0.3% against 0.2% at the end of last year.
