Usdaw celebrations

A nationwide bus tour set off last month as part of the 125th anniversary celebrations of the Usdaw shopworkers’ union.

Starting in Aberdeen, it will continue into mid-August, visiting town centres and workplaces across the country. Usdaw general secretary John Hannett said: “We are very proud of our 125-year history, but this bus tour also focuses on the future, promoting the work of the union to the general public and encouraging workers to protect themselves by joining up.

“We hope it will help people gain a better understanding of our campaigning work and the role we have in modern workplaces to get a better deal for our members.”

Usdaw’s membership, now over 440,000, has grown by nearly a third in the last decade.
