Agency workers
 in Germany

The number of agency workers in Germany reached a new record in 2015, with 961,000 employed in this way — around 50,000 more than the year before. However, agency workers only account for around 2% of the country’s 43 million labour force.

Machine building and vehicle manufacturing employ the largest number of agency workers, together accounting for more than a third (36%) of the total.

Agency workers generally earn less than other workers, with an average pay of €1,700 (around £1,400) a month compared with €2,960 (£2,450) for full-time permanent employees.
