More motor job cuts

More jobs look set to go following the takeover of General Motors’ European operations (Opel/Vauxhall) by the French car company PSA. After the loss of 400 jobs at Ellesmere Port in October, French jobs are now threatened.

The company is planning to transfer a number of research projects from France to the Opel research centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany. These projects are currently being undertaken by external contractors, so there will be no direct loss of employment at PSA, but up to 1,200 jobs in the contractors are at risk.
