RPI inflation posts increase

Dearer air fares and housing costs pushed inflation to a six-year high at the end of last year.

In December 2017, the Retail Prices Index rose by 4.1% against a 3.9% rise in November.

Under the government’s preferred CPIH measure, the annual rate of inflation was down to 2.7% from 2.8% the previous month.
