Safety reps' charter in education sector

Employers and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have backed a safety reps' charter for the education sector. Trade unionists on the two HSE committees for education developed the charter. The charter stresses employers' duties to consult with safety reps and to ensure appropriate facilities and assistance are provided to allow reps to fulfil their statutory functions. The aim is to encourage the widespread adoption of the charter throughout education.
