Children's work laws

The Better Regulation Task Force last month called on the government to simplify the law on child employment.

The call came on the same day that the TUC and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) published a report showing that 90% of local authorities in England had by-laws on children's work which conflicted with national legislation.

The issue will be discussed at the TUC Youth Conference next month.
