UNISON challenge to Iraq union law

Public services union UNISON has written to foreign minister Jack Straw to protest about an Iraqi government decree that could restrict union activity in the country.

General secretary Dave Prentis said he was concerned that the decree would remove Iraqi unions' financial independence. He described it as "a major attack on the ability of independent and democratic trade unions to organise."
