Long-service deal reached at Thompsons

Union solicitors Thompsons have reached agreement with the GMB general union on a 4% pay rise for staff and fee-earners.

The settlement, which has been backdated to 1 October 2005, was approved by GMB members in a ballot last month. It also provides for one-off payments to employees on completion of 10 and 20 years’ service.

Members had previously rejected two similar offers because the long-service scheme was not offered retrospectively to staff who had already reached the 10- and 20-year landmarks.
