New learning opportunities in Scotland

Scotland’s largest provider of union education officially opened its doors this month.

The Trade Union Education Centre at Glasgow’s Stow College, which offers a range of courses to activists, was launched by TUC deputy general secretary Frances O’Grady and Allan Wilson, Scottish deputy minister for enterprise and lifelong learning.

Meanwhile, GMB Scotland has developed a training initiative with employers to help workers in the Scotch whisky industry.

The scheme aims to help them develop skills such as business awareness, communications and teamworking, which are rarely included in traditional training.
