Women truckers win "the right to pee"

Female truck drivers using the port of Folkestone celebrated victory last month as a women’s toilet was opened on the site.

The new facility at the parking area for heavy goods vehicles, provided following pressure from the T&G transport union, will be protected for women’s use by a key system.

T&G branch secretary Rachael Webb said the inspiration for the campaign had come from similar efforts by women bus workers in Bristol. “Our reasonable demand for toilet and shower facilities for all transport workers is a matter of importance for all of us,” she added.
