Scaffolding warning

Skilled and professional union Amicus has warned that some scaffolding trainers are not properly accredited.

The union found a number of cases, particularly in Scotland, where employers had provided scaffolder training but used providers who were not recognised by the CITB-Construction Skills accrediting body.

Amicus health and safety officer Rob Miguel said: “We have been alerted to a number of cases where scaffolder training procured by companies in good faith has not been recognised by CITB-Construction Skills as qualifying for issue of a CISRS (Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme) card.”

Reps should contact the union for a list of accredited trainers.
