DWP consults on liability insurance for employers

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is carrying out a review of Employers’ Liability Compulsory Insurance.

The DWP is seeking to repeal a regulation requiring insurance certificates to be retained for 40 years, and wants to allow certificates to be kept in electronic format rather than having to be displayed. But unions fear that the proposals, aimed at removing “administrative burdens” on business, may adversely affect personal injury claimants.

The consultation runs until 17 September. Details can be downloaded from www.dwp.gov.uk/publications/dwp/2007/ELCI-consultation-document.pdf
