Community launches betting shop campaign

The Community union has launched a campaign to protect betting-shop staff in Scotland.

“Our members are telling us that abusive behaviour and verbal and physical abuse have reached unprecedented levels,” said general secretary Michael Leahy. “No-one should accept the levels of abuse that betting-shop staff – who are predominantly women – face on a daily basis.”

The campaign, which is also aimed at ensuring that employers take the issue more seriously, is backed by the Scottish TUC and the Health and Safety Executive.
