HBOS/Lloyds talks

Accord, the union for Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) workers, has consulted 500 workplace reps on negotiations over the merger with Lloyds TSB (LTSB). LTSB has not yet released prospective job-loss figures, but will retain HBOS brands. It has also agreed informally to recognise Accord along with Unite and independent union LTU.

Accord general secretary Ged Nichols said the union now supported the takeover as there was more hope of avoiding large-scale compulsory redundancies. “HBOS staff want to go forward now they know the brands and the pace,” he said.
