Drivers need bus attack protection

Bus companies must protect drivers from violence and assaults, the GMB general union has said.

A GMB member was injured last month while driving a bus in Brighton after being assaulted by a passenger. The union believes the assault would not have happened if screens had been in place.

Rob Macey, GMB organiser, said, “This latest assault comes on top of at least 15 assaults that took place last year. One of these assaults was particularly violent and has left a member of the GMB unable to return to work since.”
