Firefighters' formula delivers 3%

The latest increase for 54,000 firefighters under their established pay formula was 3% from 7 November 2000. This takes the annual pay rates to:

Firefighter aged 18

First 6 months £16,305

After 6 months £17.,061

Firefighter aged 19 or over

First 6 months £16,563

After 6 months and during 2nd year £17,307

During 3rd year £18,135

During 4th year £19,035

During 5th year £20,724 (if qualified)

After 15 years £21,648 (qualified)

After 15 years £19,917 (unqualified)

Leading firefighter £22,191

After 15 years' service £23,106

The annual fee for retained firefighters is £1,809 during the first three years' service and £1,977 thereafter with a turn-out fee of £13.41.
