Disabled NHS workers

The recession is hitting disabled workers in the NHS harder than their non-disabled colleagues, according to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP).

Cliff Towson, convenor of the CSP disabled members’ network told the TUC disability conference in May that pressure on staff caused by vacant posts and recruitment delays could have a major impact on disabled staff who were entitled to adjustments to do their jobs, including extra time. The CSP urged unions to use equality impact assessments when changes to working practices were intro- duced, to assess the effects on disabled workers.
