New learning centre

The Unite union and transport firm Go North East celebrated Learning at Work Day last month by opening a dedicated union learning centre at the Stanley depot and signing a learning agreement. The initiative is supported by unionlearn’s Learning for All Fund.

The centre will offer formal studies for staff taking NVQs, numeracy, literacy and IT qualifications. A depot-based Unite union learning representative will support staff in accessing both formal and informal learning opportunities.

It is hoped the learning centre at the Stanley depot, where 170 staff are based, will be the first of a number of similar centres around the region. It will be open to all 2,000 staff across the region.
