Occupational health service launched

A scheme which will establish national standards for occupational heath services and accredit providers against those standards was launched last month. It will apply to both private and NHS providers.

SEQOHS (Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service) will be led by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and operated by the Royal College of Physicians. The plan is for accreditation to be up and running in the first half of this year.

The British Medical Association says OH services are currently only accessible by 13% of employees.
