Diversity in science

Attempts to increase diversity in the scientific workforce are to be made through a government-funded programme to be run by the Royal Society, the UK’s national academy of science.

The programme aims to look at ways to remove barriers to entry and progression in the workforce based on gender, ethnicity, disability, and socio-economic status.

The scheme is expected to run over four years and has total funding of £700,000.
