Surrey County Council imposed award

Surrey County Council, which does not follow the Green Book national agreement, has imposed flat-rate pay awards of £250 from 1 April 2014 and again from 1 April 2015 (consolidated into salaries). But its minimum salary increased by 2.7% to £14,739, equivalent to £7.85 per hour, 20p an hour above the UK Living Wage.

All staff below the maximum who have “headroom” within their pay grade would receive a £500 pay progression payment from 1 April 2014 and again next year.

A 1% increase in all allowances was also due to be applied and a review of the council’s reward strategy, including benefits, career progression, annual leave and recognition, was planned.
