Corbyn commits to national civil service bargaining

PCS has welcomed a commitment by Jeremy Corbyn that the next Labour government would restore national negotiations in the civil service — last seen in the mid-1990s.

Corbyn told the union’s annual conference: “Having hundreds of different sets of negotiations in the civil service must end. It takes up an enormous amount of time and under the next Labour government there would be national pay bargaining.”

Corbyn also gave reassurances on pay saying it was “time for the public sector (1%) pay cap to end and to restore good industrial relations in the civil service.”
