Recognition for Community rep

A regional organiser for the Community union, Sayid Ali Ashar Moullin, has won a major award for his contribution to the black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) communities in the South West.

The honour came at the MTM awards — which recognise the talents of BAME people in business, community, arts and entertainment in the South West. Sayid won a Special Recognition award for his community organising.

He works as an organiser primarily in the South West, but has been supporting colleagues across the UK to organise migrant workers, in particular, within Community and to help people understand their rights.

Community general secretary Roy Rickhuss said: “He’s adept at reaching out to the diverse migrant communities that make up the UK’s workforce and helping to bring people together to create a better working world.”
