Work-sharing agreement at Amazon in Italy

Unions at the Amazon distribution centre Castel San Giovanni in Northern Italy have reached an agreement with the online retailer which they hope will produced a fairer sharing of workloads.

The deal, which is experimental and will run for a year, with an evaluation after four months, also includes an increase to 25% from 15% in the premium paid for night work.

Explaining the changes, the unions said “we have been inspired by the principles of equality and equity”.
