Widen Emergency Workers Bill’s remit — CWU

The scope of the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Bill, whichis currently making its way through parliament should be widened to include other public service workers, says the CWU union.

The bill will increase the seriousness with which assaults on emergency workers are dealt with by introducing new offences and increased penalties. However, the CWU says it should cover any worker carrying out an important public service, including postal workers and telecoms engineers.
