Current pay rates for staff and casuals at the Kings Place Arts and Music centre, Kings Cross, London, have increased by 2% backdated to 1 April 2018.

The minimum hourly rate for 2018-19 rises to £9.65 and will rise to £10.10 in 2019-20, according to the BECTU section of professionals’ union Prospect.

This year’s talks have also secured a marked improvement in paid sickness leave with the entitlement for staff rising from 10 days to four weeks in a 12-month period; paid sick leave for casual staff is also to be introduced, based on an allowance equivalent to four weeks’ pay.

The union will continue to seek a commitment to paying the London Living Wage (currently £10.20 an hour).

“Our members are very determined to secure at least the London Living Wage at the venue. Our agreement doesn’t prevent the branch from submitting a pay claim for 2019-20,” said assistant national secretary Helen Ryan.
