Talks over gender pay gap at BBC Studios

The BECTU entertainment section of professionals’ union Prospect was due to meet with BBC Studios to discuss the gender pay gap results that were published earlier this month

Data revealed a gender bonus gap of 48% and a pay gap of almost 20% in the first year since its merger with BBC Worldwide.

When the results were published, head of BECTU Gerry Morrissey said the union would be asking for urgent discussions about the BBC Studios gender pay gap results.

“BECTU has been pushing to ensure that the gender pay gap is addressed across the entire organisation in a proper, fair and transparent manner and this must also apply to BBC Studios,” he said.

“These gender pay gap results – particularly the bonus payments – will be galling for staff that are seeing staff cuts within the organisation. This is not good enough and urgent action must be taken to address the imbalance of men and women in the most senior roles.”
