Clean air for children

the NEU teaching union has given its backing to a newly launched national clean air for children programme that is demanding urgent government action and emergency funding to clean up illegal levels of air pollution around schools and nurseries.

The Clean Air Parent’s Network, supported by environmental law organisation ClientEarth and the British Lung Foundation, is demanding £153 million funding to implement a series of measures set out in the programme.

These include air quality audits, a ban on new schools, nurseries and playgrounds in pollution hotspots, and traffic exclusion zones.
