Sodexo to pay NHS Agenda for Change rates

Sodexo has agreed to implement the 2018 NHS Agenda for Change Pay Framework Agreement for its staff at Wythenshawe Hospital, in full and with back pay to April 2018 to avert industrial action.

The company, which employs cleaning, catering and porter staff, has paid the proper NHS rates since 2007, but this year appeared to be dragging its feet.

The 2018 Agenda for Change pay deal is worth between 6.5% and 25.5% over three years, and means that the lowest paid NHS staff should now have a minimum rate of £8.93 an hour.

Wendy Guest, UNISON branch secretary said: “Sodexo’s decision to pay staff the correct rate for the job is very welcome. It shows the way for other employers to follow and it will make a big difference to low-wage workers at Wythenshawe Hospital.”
