Poland sees real-terms increase in earnings

Earnings in Poland grew by 7.3% in 2018, the fastest rise since 2008 and well above the 5.5% recorded in 2017.

After taking inflation into account, the increase in real earnings was 5.3%, again the best result since 2008.

The figures from the official statistics office GUS show that in money terms average earnings in 2018 were 4,585zł (€1,055 or £918) a month.

This trend appears to be continuing into the current year. Private sector earnings in January 2019 were 7.5% higher than a year earlier.
