Pay deals post real-terms rise

Collectively agreed pay settlements posted a 2.8% increase in the three-months to February — the same increase as for the January period.

The overall median (midpoint) for pay settlements on LRD’s Payline database was matched by the increase in the private sector.

The increases are real-terms increases of 0.3 percentage points as the inflation under the Retail Prices Index for the last two months has been rising by 2.5%.

The official earnings figures show the average weekly pay packet grew by 3.4% in the year to January – well ahead on inflation.
