Unite deal in Never Never land

General union Unite has secured a recognition deal with the Peter Pan Nursery in Wrexham, North Wales. The agreement came after a 22-month battle by the nursery workers, including the threat of strikes. Nursery owner SHAP Ltd has now signed a collective bargaining agreement with Unite and the planned strike action has been cancelled.

Union regional officer Jo Goodchild said the workers “never wanted to go down the route of industrial action but felt that they were left with no other choice. I am hopeful that Unite will now be able to build a constructive working relationship with SHAP Ltd that will benefit all parties”.
