Pay deals post 2.9% increase

It’s been a case of two steps forward, one step back for settlements in the past three months.

The median (midpoint) increase for pay deals on LRD’S Payline database for the three months to August was 2.9%, after a 3.0% increase for July and a 2.8% increase for June.

The latest two months were increases in real-terms as they were above the RPI inflation rate, but in June the median rise lost ground with prices.

Official data on regular average weekly earnings show an overall increase of 3.7% in July.
