Pay deals post 2.8% rise


In November, the median pay increase in collectively agreed settlements edged higher to 2.8% from the revised increase of 2.7% for October. Data for 2019 from LRD’s Payline database show that in eight out of 10 months the increase was 2.8%.


In the private sector, the median increase dipped to 2.9%, while in public sector, the median increase was unchanged at 2.6%.


Official earnings figures showed a sharp drop in October, as average weekly earnings for whole economy, excluding bonuses, increased by 3.2% against a 3.6% increase in September.
